Voice Acting Remote Session Checklist

Prepare the connection, local recording, script version, and handoff for a directed remote session. Keep the conversation channel separate from the recording deliverable and rehearse a connection failure before the appointment.

Controlled practice

Work through the routine one step at a time.

Change one variable, listen back, then mark the step. Progress stays on this device and carries across the language switch. The checklist stores completion flags, never recordings.

1

Confirm session identity

Check the time zone, contact, link, and expected connection tool in the invitation. Resolve a time-zone mismatch before the session starts.

2

Freeze the script version

Write the file name and revision on your private session notes. Confirm the director is looking at the same line numbers.

3

Test call and recording separately

Join a test call, then save a local recording. Verify both paths work; hearing you on the call does not establish that the local recorder is running.

4

Agree take labels

Ask how takes and pickups should be identified. Rehearse one slate and check that the label appears in the file or session log.

5

Rehearse a disconnect

Agree who reconnects, how the last complete take is identified, and whether local recording continues. Do not guess during a real outage.

6

Verify the handoff

Save the required files, reopen one, and use the agreed private delivery channel. Confirm receipt and retain the local copy according to the project agreement.

0 of 6 steps completed. Self-review, not an audio score.

Original practice card

Use one fixed example for a fair comparison.

Fictional rehearsal: session 09:00 UTC; script Lantern v3; line 12; take 02. If the call drops after line 12, reconnect and identify whether take 02 completed before continuing.

How should the first pass work?

Read the original example and limits, then work through the six steps using your own notes and any equipment required by the task. Keep a baseline or current version and check the stated result before marking a step complete. The checklist records your progress locally; it does not inspect files, judge audio, or perform the task for you.

Limits and failure cases

Repair a failed comparison before continuing.

This checklist does not join calls, provide a remote recording service, store credentials, or upload files. Use the tool and security requirements specified by the session organizer.

Too many simultaneous changes

Changing words, level, position, and pace together makes the comparison inconclusive. Return to the example baseline and retain only the variable specified by the current step.

Impressions instead of evidence

A more attractive sound does not establish that the task worked. Apply the page-specific playback checks, and ask a listener unfamiliar with the example to recount the information before keeping a take.

Effort used to force completion

The completion record is not an endurance contest. Stop at discomfort, shorten the session, and return to comfortable speech; pain or excessive vocal effort is never a condition for checking a box.

Continue training

Choose the next exercise by the task you need.

Continue with Voice Over Equipment Setup and Voice Acting Director Communication, or return to the voice imitation game. The game uses its own reference clips and imitation scoring; it does not automatically assess this original practice script.
